Ok guys. I'm getting ready to rivet the rib attach angles to my spars and notice that where the flap drive support frame attaches to the main spar, there is only an 1/8" thick spacer bar between the bottom and top cap strips, even though the caps are double thick on both the top and bottom. I presume this is to leave room for the weld where the tube attaches to the channel on the support frame. Otherwise one would have to grind the weld away for the support frame to sit flat against the spar. Does this sound right?

Don't know about the 4 place, but the support frames on the Patrol are positioned between the spacer bars span wise so there is no possibility of an interference. The capstrips are doubled upper and lower with .250 spacer bars inboard and outboard of the frames. The support frame channels rest on the capstrips and are .250 off the surface of the spar web. This could be irrelevant because it's Patrol. Check the drawings, the answer is almost always there.

Yes, it is to allow space between the support frame and the rivets that will be holding the attach angle for the nose rib at that location. I put a .25 spacer there when I built my spars, then had to replace it when I started to assemble my wing and realized my error.
