So, I got my O360 lycomin engine I also acquired engine baffles and a piper nose bowl and cowling from the aeronca sedan with O360 stc what is the chance that the nose bowl and muffler assy can be used on my bearhawk? It is the muffler, heat muff 4 to one and all one piece, off cessna 177 cardinal, which was used on the O360 aeronca stc just looking for opinions. thanks

Gary, how much are you willing to fabricate yourself? If you want to use all prefab (kit) parts then I would say you should not try to use it. But if you are making your own cowl anyway then I would think there would be a pretty good chance you could use the nose bowl you have. Obviously there may be modifications needed to make it work so then it comes down to if the mods are too extensive or just minimal. At this point if you could compare the nose bowl to the Bearhawk nose bowl (which is off a Pitts) maybe you can see how different they are so you can get some idea of how much you may have to modify.

There is a Bearhawk in Brazil with...if I remember correctly a Piper PA 44 nose bowl and a continental IO360. In the picture of the 177 with the O360 conversion you can see the exhaust stack partially blocked by my legs. If you choose to use the 177 exhaust you'll likely have to cut a hole in the cowl like the Sutton exhaust conversion done on PA 18's, 20's and 22's. Or have an exhaust stack modified to exit just forward of the tunnel. ....another thought. I don't like one piece nose bowls. Carbon Concepts in Wassilla makes the special as the call it, 2 piece carbon fiber PA 20 nose bowl..... A wide deck O360 will fit behind it. Post up a picture of your nose bowl....
