  • Wing skin overlap main spar

From what I can tell the wing skin overlap is the width of the spar web bottom. Seems that is what I came up with . So about 1.25"?

Page 16 of the Bearhawk Book would lead me to agree, based on the illustration.

That's what I was basing my decision on. Couldn't find anything more clearly explained so I thought I'd ask as I usually do. I feel that there are no dumb questions...regardless if it seems straight forward to others or not. Thanks for the response. This forum is very helpful and reassuring!

I thought I had seen it on the wing sheet (2 or 3), but it was only for the 1" skin overlap in other places. I imagine going over a bit isn't a huge deal, unless it interferes with the next row of rivets.

John Snapp (n3uw) pointed out that the most economical way to purchase sheet material for skin is to buy it in 12 foot lengths. (6) 12 foot sheets of 020 and and (1) 12 foot sheet of 025)
some 032 material is also needed

I have not made my cuts yet, So, please double check everything. That said, I think that 6 foot sub piece is long enough to wrap with only a little waist.

I did use 12' sheets cut in half for the patrol. I wrapped then to the aft edge of the spar. This keeps them consistent all along the wing. At the fuel tank area you do not want it to extend beyond the spar or it would make installing the fuel tank difficult. That is what set the length for me for the rest of the wing.
