  • Wing fittings, etc

First, some eye candy. Here goes my first shot at attaching a photo:

If that worked, you may notice that this was taken just after nap time. You may also notice the absence of wing attach fittings. I haven't seen a method of bending the front fittings that didn't involve a hydraulic press or heavy-duty brake, which I don't have. I prefer not to form this one in a vice with a hammer. So my questions are:

    1) How did you form this piece without a big brake or press?
    2) If you DID use a press and still have the jigs, may I send you my fittings to bend? =)

Nice family shot. Perfect for a Christmas card.

I bent mine using my homemade brake. It was pretty easy and my brake isn't all that robust. I know some builders have made their fittings with a thick piece of iron, a vice and a big hammer but like you I didn't want to go there.

I always thought Wayne's use of a log splitter as clever: http://www.mykitlog.com/users/displa...g=177611&row=7
