Floorboards

I think I read somewhere that the best way to get a floorboard template was to get one from those who've already conquered this task. That's a pretty good size piece of paper. How have builders shared this in the past?

It kinda seems that the floorboard footprint is something that is easily drafted just by taking some measurements and laying it out on a large piece of cardboard, but I'd love to see any templates that anyone has. Thanks

I'm opting to use something other than aluminum. Honestly, I haven't cracked into the sheet metal package (it's safer that way) so if those aluminum floorboards are in there, that solves my problem.

You have all the floor pieces Zane in that package of sheet metal. Before you use them as a pattern, you should put them in place and make sure you are happy with the fit. Sometimes a small amount of filing or trimming helps. Mark

I would second what Mark says. The patterns are a good fit, but left a tiny bit more room around the fairleads. Whatever you choose Zane, be sure to think about making a design you can remove easily for annual inspections - especially around the elevator bellcrank.

I also think you will have a hard time finding a lighter-weight alternative to alloy (which is equally flexible to make it easier removing the boards). If you want to load 700lbs of stuff into the plane's cargo space, you'll be needing something strong yet flexible.
