  • Elevator Rib Stitch

I’m a newbie fabric guy. Do you rib stitch the horizontal round bar at the end of the elevator? Wondering since the fabric lays down in it. It’s not a rib but wondering if it should be stitched?

    thx.

Thank you! Looks like tapes anywhere there is a metal structure underneath the fabric? Does it make sense to have a tape if there is a gap between the metal structure and the fabric?

You'll want to pick a covering syatem and follow their taping rules precisely. Covering is one area where the guidance is very specific and easy to follow.

Since we are talking rib stitching, what is everyone using for their spacing?

Whatever the very specific instructions in the manual for your covering system specifies?

I used Oratex's certified (on Pitts Special etc.) stitch-less system. Worked a treat, lovely finish too. No painting either required... was super for the interior also

My understanding is it’s Aircraft Vne specific. Using the chart of Spacing vs Vne it would be 2.5 inch for a Bearhawk5. I confirmed this with Virgil.

I rounded down to 2" for good measure on my 5.
