  • Aft termination of belly stringers

Curious what others have done to make a smooth but solid taper-off of the belly stringers in the tail? I saw the photo in the build manual of the axially-crushed tips to blunt and turn them upward. I'm not sure I dig that method. Has anyone taper cut them and bridged them with a little thin alum sheet? Give them a healthy tweak upward? Cut them really short? Looking for ideas.

    Thanks.

I bent them up slightly to taper off the pressure, works just fine Zane. You could put a metal panel there instead like some supercubs, it would give you access to the tailwheel area.

I made a small relief notch, bent them up slightly and added a small u-shaped "clip" out of aluminum that enclosed the ends.

I found it hard to bend them without them kinking, so I cut a lot of metal off the top side to make them easier to bend smoothly. Then I basically just bent them and left it, like Wayne has done. It's very light weight and that's all you require.
