  • LORD Mounts for Type II Dynafocal Lyc 540 installation

    Hi Guys,

    Hold it!

Mark pointed out that the I.D. of the engine "ear" is 1 3/8" for a Type I and 2" for a Type II. Mine ears have an I.D. of 1 3/8". Looks like I need to check the mount and engine closer. Maybe Bob and I got crossed up.

I am preparing to hang my engine and am confused about the "rubbers" needed. I thought that the J-9613-12 LORD part number was correct. However, I pulled the parts out this afternoon and nothing made sense (see pics). The mounts would not fit the holes in the engine "ears".

Do I have the correct part number?

If not, does anyone know what the correct part number is?

Does anyone have pics of a properly installed O-540 LORD mount?

    Thanks a Lot,

    Wes

    Guys,

I uncrated the engine and hoisted it up to the mount. The angles matched (See Pics). So, I must have a Type I engine and mount. We will see how understanding ACS is about the mis-order of the rubbers ;-)

BTW, that was terrifying. I have never picked up an A/C engine that large or that expensive.

For the archives, Per Mark G.
    O540 Type I
    94110-01 (Barry)
    J3804-20 (Lord)

That leaves me wondering what the bolts I need and whether the Barry or Lord is best.

Any of you guys with experience have a preference between Barry and Lord?

Thanks, and Sorry for the false question.

    Wes

+1 on picking up an engine, it's fair to say I was more than a little nervous too.
Same goes for picking up the wings. My helpers for those jobs would vouch for that!

If picking it up was nerve wracking, wait until the first time you lower and unhook the lift with the engine mounted to the fuselage... I remember that experience vividly. I ended up with the Lord brand, but couldn't find any strong evidence for one over the other.

Thanks Jared. I'll just see if ACS will exchange Lord for Lord.
