Bearhawk Gathering at Oshkosh, Save the Date

Good news! Chris In Milwaukee and his friends are willing to host another Bearhawk cookout at 6pm on the Tuesday (7-26) evening of Airventure. So save the date for now, we'll have more details to follow.

If you'll be driving anywhere near North Carolina on your way up there, I'm looking for help with transportation. The cookout will go on with or without the tents, tables, and such that I usually bring, but it will go better with them. The pile of tables is about 3x3x1 feet, and the tents are 5x1x1 each. Then I usually bring an 18-gallon tote of other stuff. I can chip in for gas.

Oshkosh can't come soon enough! I wait sadly for 360 days a year for the next show to arrive, each day closer becoming one day happier!

This event is typically held in Camp Scholler if I'm hosting it. If you've ever been to Scholler, you'll remember it's outside the gate by the Theater in the Woods and the Fly Market. I never know our camping spot until a week before the show, but we try to keep it in the same spot every year if we can. More news as we get closer.

My wife and I will be there! Rather than drive (like the last 10 years). we've decided to bring our RV-8 this year which has, ummmmm.... "limited" cargo capacity (read: no room for a BBQ or beer cooler) so we will be looking forward to the yummy stuff :-)

It would be quite a trick to fly our Bearhawk. The fuselage is on the gear , but that is it. The wings are getting started this fall.

I will be there the entire week, camping in Scholler with my travel trailer. And I will definitely attend the Bearhawk gathering Tuesday night. Really looking forward to putting faces with names!

I might just have to try and talk my wife into letting me go a day earlier. Not an easy ask though considering she will be left with out 4 year old and a newborn due to arrive in the next 2 weeks.

Jared: I live close to 3CK & 10C, just NW of Chicago, in case you need a place to stop on your way.
Since I normally drive to OSH, I may be able to bring tent and/or tables from my EAA chapter, if needed.

I will be there! Although I would like to fly the Bearhawk to OSH, this year is the 30th anniversary of the Vans RV-6. I'm flying my RV-8 up instead and will be part of the 30-airplane formation demonstration. Next year I will fly the Bearhawk up though! I can't wait to do some comfortable camping with lots of gear instead of minimalist style with the RV-8.
