Looks like my cowl problem kicked a hornet's nest. THAT'S GREAT!! If me posting a problem helps the rest of you to avoid something and you get your plane flying faster then it was a good thing.

Just an update on my exhaust: Clint has asked that I send the headers back so he can try to tighten them into the engine a little closer. Shipping them today. I hope he has good luck with what he is thinking or it will be blister or new cowl time.

The primary factor was that the first one wasn't very good. It worked for the first 150 hours or so, but I was using a fiberglass bubble to clear the first version of the exhaust. When I went to one of Clint's crossover exhaust systems with mufflers, I was able to eliminate the bubble.

OK here is an update on my exhaust and cowl rubbing problem.
I contacted Clint at Vetterman Exhaust about the problem (as anyone who read the previous post knows) and he told me to send what I call the header portion back for him to tighten up closer to the engine. Clint swapped them out with a set he already had that was built tighter so I had my exhaust back in about 2 1/2 weeks. I just got to assemble and put the headers on today. I have attached some pictures. The results are that I have 7/8" clearance on the pilots side and about 5/8" on the passenger side but I think I can still get a bit more there. Two of the pictures are without the nose bowl but yes I did put it on to make sure I still had the clearance.

THANK YOU Clint for all your assistance. You took what I thought was a pile of lemons and whipped up some great lemonade! Awesome! IMG_1797.JPGIMG_1796.JPGIMG_1794.JPGIMG_1795.JPG
