    This flight was a lot less "overwhelming", thank goodness. The Dynon Lady reprimanded me several times though. If she keeps it up, we won't be using the term "Lady" anymore. It seems my oil pressure is getting too high on take off this time, she spoke up when I blew through 700 ft, which I must have accidentally set while trying to set the field elevation and she asked me to switch tanks--I was on both. So a little adjusting in the Dynon needed. We do have a heavy right wing that will need attention--left rudder and right stick to hold straight and level. The cruise speed at 24 /24 was 140 MPH. I expect that to get better once we get the rigging right and the strut fairings on. Checked out the savvy analysis site and that looks interesting. Apparently I will need to get this MAC in for an update before I can use it. Also there are limits to any landing gear and how much they can help a bad landing. I proved that yesterday as my first landing was by far the best. Both airplanes seem to be preforming the same, as are the pilots.

    Was that 140 mph ISA or TAS? Just wondering, since 24x24 is pretty much a 75% power setting. Which prop are you running again?

      Jim, that was ISA and 75%power with the whirlwind 80" 210 prop at 3500 ft.
      Glad we can be an inspiration!! I hope we are cause I think it will be cool to take up a whole row @ Oshkosh someday. D.

        So 140 mph IAS at 3500 ft would be roughly 148 mph TAS. That's "cooking" right along, and considering your slight rigging issue, you could see another 5+ mph once that gets cleaned up. Very cool!

          We also have to install the wing strut fairings at the fuselage. I can't imagine something like that would make much difference, but I guess it all adds up. From what I experienced today, fixing this rigging issue might get us 6 or 7+. Really needs a lot of left rudder--hands off and she took off in a big hurry to the right. Amazing how much I have forgotten about flaps. Needing to get used to a whole new view out the window on final. Jim Mcglaughlin--don't get too used to the flat approach of the Citabria. That all goes away with the Patrol--also I've reached for the heel brakes at least once every time time I've flown. D.

            Woohoo! So jealous of all the fun you guys are having. I struggled with the toe brakes when I started flying a BH; actually I hated them. I would have installed heel brakes in my plane but I would have never heard the end of it.

              I'm with you on the heel brakes--I absolutely wanted to retrofit my Patrol, but with all the other retrofitting we did, and the time it would have taken, I decided to "handle" it. I just hope I get used to the toe brakes before I need them in an emergency, cause today I would go for the heel brakes. I ran off the runway once learning to fly the 185. I think I accidentally got some toe brake in there when all I wanted was rudder. ( the ground was flat and nothing in the way so we just steered her back onto the runway--no damage done, not even to my pride. I thought I did a great job gathering her back up. ) The toe brakes in the Patrol are separate and higher up and harder to make that mistake. I hope. D.
