  • Project Slowdown

All has been quiet on the Wisconsin front as winter continues. Progress has slowed a bit due to large work projects eating into my build time.

If life didn't have enough adventure in it already, my wife has traveled down a new career path, which means we'll be moving across the state. When the movers came in and did their evaluation, I showed them the airplane parts and expressed my concern that these must not be scratched or otherwise damaged during transportation. They said that they wouldn't trust the packers/movers not to scratch them (they honestly don't know the importance of these parts--I don't blame them), so I'll be handling the packing and transportation of these parts. I also don't trust that they won't scratch or gouge the 4x12 aluminum sheets, either. So I'll be taking care of those myself as well.

So the project will stop while I tend to packing and transporting the project to the new house. I should be back on track again in June with a fresh set of updates!

I'm still watching everyone else's progress, so carry on smartly!

~Chris (soon to no longer be "In Marshfield")

I salute Chris, John, and others who have had to set things aside for the family. And I know that there are others who have not or will not ever start because they are prioritizing family first. Right now there are 77 people on line viewing this site. Only 14 of us are "members, 63 are "Guests". I imagine the vast majority are doing the right thing by waiting.

I like about the EAA. They send out a very clear message to us that "Its not just about airplanes." They have a message about Family in every direction I look. If you all are like me, its easy to get out of balance, which can damage the family unit. Chris and John and others....you help me keep perspective on what is most important.

Lots of those guests are probably robots, but you are still making good points!

Thanks Brooks :-) Family is forever, planes aren't always. But while looking for a new house, the first thing my wife would take into account is whether or not there was enough space to continue the project. If not, it came off the list. Love that woman!

Chris, don't forget room for the runway and hangar too! I was thinking perhaps your move across the state would have been 180 degrees the other direction and we would nearly be neighbors.

We looked at opportunities in the MSP metro, but the MKE one won out

I wish i was but I am getting close. Since we have moved i have had to set up the hanger for aviation and my remote office (actual office is still in denver). My wife also bought a business so now i am also her repair guy, computer it tech ( 16 windows machines and a server) and her HR person. We are also remodeling our house and i am cheap so i am doing a lot of it myself ( that will be ending somewhat now). I now in the process of building a wing jig, which is much more complicated in this hangar than my basement,
