  • Fumoto valve

Just finished an oil change and wanted to share something. A number of years ago, I found Fumoto oil drain valves. They're the finest drain valves I've ever seen. They're available in every thread configuration and outlet you could imagine. No, they're not "FAA CERTIFIED"! Ha! I installed one on my O-360 before I put the engine on the mount. It works GREAT!
The one that fits the Lyc is http://www.fumotousa.com/parts.php?partnumber=70 Cost is around $32.00

Like I said, just wanted to share.

If anyone else is stealing Bill's good ideas like me and want to order the Fumoto T202NS (short nipple) straight from the Fumoto website this may help. I was only finding the 3/4" longer nipple version on the store site (T202N). I was thinking I should stick with the short version to avoid interference issues yet to be found. This is the instructions I got to order it:

We do have the T202NS in stock, however it does not come up on our website.
      We apologize for this inconvenience.

Can you kindly place an order for the T202N: https://www.fumotooildrainvalve.com/t202n.html and leave a comment for us saying that you would prefer the short nipple?
Once we receive the order we can manually change it to include the T202NS. There is no price difference.

We are sorry for the confusion, and we look forward to hearing from you.
      Thanks too much,
      John Bickham

Interesting that you mentioned this, John. I’m wrapping up the Condition Inspection, which includes an oil change. I can’t help but smile at the efficiency of the Fumoto. It simply works perfectly!

It is not unheard of in some circles to put a fitting and high quality hose in place of the drain plug, and put a valve at the other end of the hose for the same reason. I put one on my own sailboat 20 years ago. Worked great.

And a remote mount oil filter.
