  • Q for engine guys

I may have somebody that wants to give me an old school (prob ww2 vintage) valve grinding machine. Looks like a small lathe to hold the valves by the stems
and has a grinder on the end. It is about 3 feet long and is on its own bench. It is made by the company "Soiux" that makes air tools.
It looks like it hasn't been used in about 40 years--- but it may be ok after a good cleaning.

Are these things still used in engine shops ?

If it is a multi angle grinding machine it is very useful if you are rebuilding engine heads. If you dont need it to grind valves you could probably sell it on ebay.

Take it. Sounds like the valve grinder I’ve seen used on aircraft engines. But if you have no plans to do your own engine work then it will just take up space. If that’s the case send it my way😉
