I mounted my OAT probe today, behind the outer wing bay through the small rib of the aileron pocket cover. I can access it by removing the wingtip which gives me access to the magnetometer and the landing light as well.

I like it - might have to steal that idea!

Just stumbled across this hint. I may steal this idea too. Thanks Nev for sharing!

You're welcome. So far mine has worked out very well. I've accessed the landing light and magnetometer several times now - just to check. Access to the air temp probe is all straight forward and works well. Hope it goes well for you.

Don't you need access to both sides of the pocket rib to service/replace the OAT probe? ...and I don't think there is access to both sides? ...or is the hinge bay not covered by the pocket skin? ...I didn't build mine and it is not here at the house to check.

You can access the front of the probe beside the aileron hinge mount, or from the back via the lightening hole.
