  • Question on Classifieds - 4sale or WTB

I was wondering if there was a way to take down a posting in the "Classifieds - 4sale or WTB ". That way if an item is sold the seller can remove the item & follow ups or notify a moderator. It will help to keep just relevant items in the classifieds as it could get larger than it need be. Thanks

Not sure if you can because I have not tried but sometimes you can edit the thread and state that its been sold.

You can edit or delete any posts that you make, so I would ask that when something is sold, the person who posted it, go in and delete the post.

        Hi Eric,
I tried to delete the posting but it only allowed me to select my last posting in the conversation.. I tried the select all & it still only picks the last posting in the conversation. I thought maybe if I could strip the posting through the edit mode it might kill it another way. It also only allows the soft delete. There was no difference using IE or Firefox. The original posting was reduced to the Andair Valve - SOLD.

The conversation has gone from 3 to 2 postings. I have gone as far as the site allows. It make need some background work that would allow the original poster to eliminate the subject & subsequent postings in the "For Sale & WTB".

If you can take it down that would be appreciated. Thx.
        Glenn

Glen, Near the top of the first posting in the thread, see if you can see a little button that looks like a gear. Click it and see if youhave the option to "delete topic". If you don't have those options itmight be a moderator only thing. Let me know. Thanks.

          Hi Eric,
I do not get the gear like button. Earlier it was a pencil & a box that I used to delete my last posting. Maybe if it is the last posting in the conversation then the author can come back and take it off. If seems once Alaskabear put his comment on that it locked everything from there up. Alaskabear removed his & it still wont let me touch it. It may be a moderator thing or a change that can be made for that section to allow the originator to take down the posting. It probably is not a feature to allow elsewhere or someone may come in a kill a long conversation that should remain. This is new to all of us so it will have a couple wrinkles until it becomes familiar. Topic deletions may belong only to moderators & super users.
          Thanks again,
          Glenn

If you have an option to flag a post, that may be a good way to let us know to delete it too. Try it once and we'll report back.

              Jared,
I flagged the posting. Was that of any help?
