Of course when I cut my piano hinges to length I also cut the pin to the same length not thinking of what you all have done with a curved end to facilitate pilling the pin to separate the sides, so how should I go about acquiring a pin to replace mine which is too short to put a bend in for easy removal?

Bending the front end makes the pins easier to remove, although I have never needed to. Bending the back end means the pins can never vibrate out forwards and approach the spinning prop during a long cross country....

I just bought more piano hinge and stole the pin from it. Probably the least elegant solution available, someone should have better advice

I think you can just buy music wire in the size desired. Cheap at the RC model supply shops in 36” lengths. The Vans RV crowd uses smaller than stock pins to allow easier extraction where the hinge material is used to attach the cowl to the airframe. They have all kinds of ways of keeping the pins captive as well.
