Is there a best practice for the amount of overlap on the wing skin?

Just leave decent edge margin for the screws or pop rivets you use to attach the wingtips. Mark

Carbon is really brittle and easy to wear. I wouldn't use AL edge distance. I think I had 1/2" - 3/8" from fastener to edge.
