  • Exhaust for a Lycoming IO540 AE1A5 or K1A5

We are building an A model 4 Place. We have a Lycoming IO540 AE1A5 engine, similar to an IO540 K1A5 angle valve. Vetterman's are uncertain of an exhaust design to suit. Has anybody experience of the engine and where did they get their exhaust?

    Thank you for any help.

A BH5 is very similar, but you might be better off just custom making one. I don't know about today, but in the not too distant past NZ had a pretty vibrant custom fab industry. The local hot rod/car racing guys might be the way to go, and with the current exchange rate, probably quite a bit cheaper.

John Crawford at Motorsport solutions is an option. https://motorsportsolutions.co.nz/

I'm running into the same thing on a Model 5 so I'll be interested to hear all the recommendations too. I was really banking on Clint but it sounds like he hasn't had good luck getting his to fit
