  • Finally back at it!!!

Well after over 3 years of the project being on hold I am back at it!!!! I promise I have a good reason for the break. While sitting at home during the lockdowns of covid I spent too much time playing online and came across a house for sale on 17.5 acres of land that was a long narrow hay field. The actual house had been abandoned for over 20 years and in extremely bad shape so basically we bought the land and got the house for free. We spent the next 2 years stripping the house to the studs and rebuilding it. we couldn't afford to hire anything out and did everything ourselves, just me and my wife with an occasional friend or family member pitching in. I then spent the next year building my Dream Hangar in the backyard. It is amazing having a 1900 foot private runway in your backyard where friends can drop in and say hi and now have the ultimate shop to build in. I am so excited to start making airplane parts again!!! it feels so good to be back.

Oh and just last week I got my first flight in a bearhawk, a buddies scratch built A model. talk about an impressive machine and the complete opposite of flying my RV4. Talk about motivating you to get building!!!!

... and then I was shaving a yak in mongolia.

It's a good feeling though when you get back to the original goal and fold all the complexity into a tight focus.

I have to say having your own runway is not a bad side quest. Maybe one day.

Thanks everyone, It has been an awesome adventure and as soon as I had the runway I had friends dropping in including a friend with his scratch built 4 place model A Bearhawk. My place is 11 miles NE of KFNT, Flint, Michigan. If anyone is ever in this area let me know as there is always cold drinks, Including water and Gatorade for those flying and not able to have a beer.
