  • Patrol stab ribs

The plans call for patrol stabilizer ribs made from 1018 sheet steel that is .032 thick. Has anyone used or asked about using 4130 steel but in a .025 thickness? Thanks Ed

I asked Bob about this a few months ago for the 4 place. He said .025 in 4130 would be fine. He recommended Annealed vs. Normalized to make it easier to form. I found some Annealed sheet on Amazon.com of all places. Thanks to alaskabearhawk for loaning me his forming blocks. The 4 place horiz. stab is flat by plans.........vs. the Patrol & LSA have the airfoil shape.

Thanks Michael, I did not want to bother Bob if the question had already been asked.
