    How have others covered the wing root area on the fuselage, the aluminum former on top has a pretty sharp

      I didn't. However if i was doing it again, I probably would in order to seal the area better.

        On my scratch built I fabric covered the area up to the top longeron on the outside and made a couple of 0.020 aluminum covers for the inside (the arrows in the picture below point to where the covers go). They are just held in with Velcro. Note that only the rear cover is shown in the pic. The forward cover actually conforms to the curve of the wing root/windshield so it completely hides all of the wires and fuel lines in that area.

          I covered mine from the inside with removable aluminum panels. I'm glad I didn't cover them with fabric. I can easily get at all my fuel fittings and flap cables ends through the cabin rather than trying to work in the little gap between the wing and the fuselage. Adds a little weight but makes life easier. My last plane had fixed panels in the same spot and it was no fun working in that tight space.
