  • Aileron cable (again)

Fore and aft cable travel at rib #10 as bellcrank is rotated needs to be dealt with. Snap bushing sized in right now doesn't quite cut it. My plan is to extend the lightening hole aft (this is an upside down Patrol Q/B wing) and rivet in a doubler around the current lightening hole to provide cable travel clearance. Will pickup a couple of the rivets currently in place used in the rib stiffener angle. Anyone see any reason not to do this?

Are you planning to surround the entire lightening hole with the doubler as shown by the pencil line? Typically just adding a doubler around the cable pass-thru hole is sufficient. If all you need is to enlarge the hole a little in the aft direction (away from the lightening hole) you may not need it all.

Enlargement need to go in the direction of the lightening hole about 1/4" and down about a bit...
Was thinking to just enlarge lightening hole to capture snap bushing and suround everything with doubler ring.

Instead of a doubler all the way around the lightening hole, why not a D shaped doubler across the end of the lightening hole and also around the snap bushing?

If you need to go toward the lightening hole and the remaining rib area is too thin, I would do it as David suggests.
