  • Cable retainers

Anyone have pics of cable retainers used for the pulleys associated with the flap cable system. Kind of scratching my head on this a bit. My first thoughts are to fabricate similar to the kit provided cable retainers for the pulleys in the wing associated with the ailerons. Any suggestions/insight appreciated.

    Thanks

I make them to suite my needs using .025 4130 sheet. This can be cut using tin snips. I get the stuff from spruce in size 6”x12”.

Today I sheared 1/2"strips of 0.032" 4130 and started in on fabricating them. Used 1/2" aluminum round bar to wrap/bend the strip. Tedious to mark and to drill out precisely but seems to be working out

I just saw your post on your progress today on another forum area. If I were you, I would redo those guards. Actually, they need to be redone. The point is to keep the cable in the groove regardless of what happens. The loop aspect of your guards don't do that. Here's an article from Kitplanes: https://www.kitplanes.com/plane-and-simple-5/

Here are a couple of pictures from my BH:

I made my cable connectors this way. Two cotter pins keep them on track. No bending required.
