I wonder if necking down the oil cooler tube would work permanently. Or perhaps a restrictor you simple swap between winter/summer. I ask because I'll have the opposite problem, cold oil temps, but I don't want to install/manage yet another pulley/lever/valve if I don't have to.
As for the cowl flap, I'm sure you can setup your airplane to work fine in AZ, but then if you came up north in the winter then you would probably struggle keeping it warm enough. So I think a cowl flap just depends on the temp ranges you expect to operate in. For me, I'll surely install one, as I don't want an AK only airplane.
