I wonder if necking down the oil cooler tube would work permanently. Or perhaps a restrictor you simple swap between winter/summer. I ask because I'll have the opposite problem, cold oil temps, but I don't want to install/manage yet another pulley/lever/valve if I don't have to.

As for the cowl flap, I'm sure you can setup your airplane to work fine in AZ, but then if you came up north in the winter then you would probably struggle keeping it warm enough. So I think a cowl flap just depends on the temp ranges you expect to operate in. For me, I'll surely install one, as I don't want an AK only airplane.

I saw these the other day, and wondered if they would work in a Bearhawk that was having hi temp issues in the summer: https://antisplataero.com/products/ez-cool-cowl-flap

Also on that site (bottom of the page linked above) is an "Oil Cooler Shutter" that might come in handy for those of you who live "up north" where you actually have real winters...

Those cowl flaps are pretty nifty. Very pricey, but a great solution.

Good info on the EarthX. I will be mounting on the cabin side of the firewall and will be using the vented case.
