Special C of A is in hand after a 10 year "quick build". I built it to replace a Maule M5-210C as a touring aircraft.
Specs: YO-540 260HP; Hartzell 2 blade; Vetterman exhaust; LR fuel tanks; Consolidated, (Poly-Fiber), fabric with Ranthane paint.
Fabric interior; Confor foam seats.
Dual G3X Touch; G5 backup with backup batteries for both sets of displays.
GMA245 Audio panel; 2- GTR200 Comm; GTX 345 TXP; Artex 406 ELT;
Steinair wire harness and avionics.
1540# with oil; Empty C of G 10.25"
65% cruise 148mph; 75% 156mph.
1200+ fpm at 2500#/52 degrees f./1100 asl. based on a 3 minute climb as required for amateur-built aircraft by Transport Canada.
Used EAA Flight Test Manual as guidance. Highly recommend using it.
Slight wing heavy. Solved by taping a 1/8" X 5" piece of plastic rod to aileron TE bottom.
Aileron stick force is a little heavier than expected, but not bothersome.
On the whole; a well designed aircraft and kit. Mark excellent to work with.
Repeat offender; built Ultimate 10-200 aerobatic biplane, upgross kit and recovered Maule, rebuilt Stinson 108, and metal spar conversion of 7ECA Citabria.
