  • Auxiliary Fuel Tanks

Assisting a guy assembling his 5 place wings. The instructions he gave me says to mount the tank in the third bay from the tip. I visited another 5 place kit builder a few days ago and noticed his factory installed auxiliary tanks were in the fourth bay. Some other differences I noticed in the wings were the skin stiffeners installed in the top skins rather than just the one stiffener in the leading edge bay. I can’t see any reason why not to install it in the fourth bay unless some one can tell me why not to. It has the same rib spacing as the third bay. It would have less weight force on the structure in the fourth bay closer to the strut pickup than in the third bay. I gather these are just improvements over the initial run of kits? Thanks

I don't know if this is comparing apples to oranges, but on the four-place the aux tank is in the third bay from the tip. The fourth bay is occupied on the inboard side by the aileron control linkage, so that isn't an option. I am under the assumption the different models use the same wing, with some slight variations.

The 5 place wings I have here have the compression strut and aileron bellcrank in the 5th bay from the tip.

Received the answer I was looking for. The 4 place A model used the 3rd bay for the aux tank. The 4 place B model and 5 place uses the 4th bay. Thanks to those who replied.
        cheers
