  • Wing Aileron Cable Pulley by the Strut Straps

Plans say A210-4A or MS24566-4B pulley at this station. I see the wing new instructions are listing MS20220-1. Thats a difference in the bore diameter of roughly 1.75”. Any clarification on this? Reason for? Design change? Thanks

I asked Virgil the same question a couple of months ago. He said, paraphrasing, that he decreased the pulley size to get rid of the rubbing inside the strut. I made this change and it does seem to fix that issue.

      Thanks for the reply.
I was concerned about the cable deflection entering the next in line 3.5” pulley. I don’t think it violates the max of 10* allowed but the friction would be on the bottom of the groove. Im not concerned about rubbing as soft aluminum has been used for fairleads in the past but any resistance would be unwanted for sure. I guess I will figure that out later when I have the wings on the fuselage. Both sized pulleys came with the owner’s kit so should be a quick decision which works best. Thanks again.

On my Companion kit the cable rubbed on the strut upon initial assembly. Bob approved the use of a smaller pulley which solved the problem.

Thanks. That’s kind of the info I was looking for.
