We just moved into a new home and I'm planning on plans building a 4-place bearhawk. I have a downstairs garage that is 17'x19'. Is that space sufficient to build in? I also have a detached single car garage/shop that I could store the wings or fuselage in after completion so I don't have to crawl over one to work on the other. Any feedback is welcome!

I'm building a 4-place quick build in my 20x20, which is actually just a hair less at 19' 6" x 19' 6". Fuselage is a bit of a tight fit, and when I'm ready to work on wings I'll have to transfer the fuse back to my hangar and bring the wings home. The key (at least I believe this since I'm just getting started) is having it right there with minimal obstacles to building.

You will be just fine, with these particular complications:
The plane will probably have to sit diagonally in the garage to get the engine and prop and spinner on for the cowling alignment, with the rudder removed. It would need to be like this for a week perhaps. You'll need somewhere else to put the wings on, this can be done in one big job inside/outside the garage if weather allows over a long weekend. They obviously need to come off again afterwards to paint etc. It's DEFINITELY worth it, for the benefit of building the plane at your home.
