Paint spray guns/systems

We have a member in our local EAA chapter that is planning on using latex. Has anyone here messed with this process in the past? Something about latex on airplanes just doesn't seem right to me, but then not much surprises me anymore either. Here are a couple links he sent me to check out.

I'm completely intrigued by "latex" paints. Not likely intrigued enough to use them on my Bearhawk, but enough to use it on another project I have brewing in the back of my head.

Thanks for that...just spent an hour watching his webinar on using latex paint. Interesting idea but I'm too chicken to try it. Reminded me that I used latex paint on the toy airplane I built for my kids, part of the fuselage is covered with Ceconite and glued with Ekobond. It is stored in the garage so no uv exposure but the paint hasn't lifted at all.

I am going to get some 3M Fastbond 30nf and compare it to Ekobond just to see if they really are the same.

I have a extra Interstate rudder which I'm going to practice covering probably with the Stewarts System. (the $6500 Oratex quote scared me right back to Stewarts) I may give the latex a go on this just out of curiosity more than anything. Who knows, might just be worth a shot. The guy in the video sure thinks so?

My last project was a 1947 cessna 140. it was the first time I painted anything other than aerosol cans. I used the poly fiber process and used the aerothane paint single stage poly eurethane. It turned out at 96% in my books and I am a perfectionist. I will definately be using the smame process when I get to that point on my bearhawk, with an epoxy primer on wings etc. Before poly fiber aerothane.
