Making Control Cables

I'm getting ready to make my elevator and rudder cables so have been looking into the proper way to do it. We made cables for another plane years ago but it used different ends and a rotary swager. I first went to AC43.13 but it didn't have quite what I was looking for. EAA had some videos about crimping cable which were helpful but this Kitplanes article had what I was looking for. Using the information in that article and instructions Nicopress I now feel comfortable making my cables.

I found it really helpful to use a temporary cable clamp from the hardware store to hold the nicopress parts in place before squeezing. Also, definitely consider galvanized cable over stainless, which is inferior in strength, durability, and cost.

Thanks for the tips Jared. Have the galvanized cable in hand and hopefully will have some cables made by the end of today.
