I just wanted to post a solution in case anyone has the same issue.
I recently updated my GTX45R transponder using the Garmin Loading tool. Everything worked fine, except for the ADSB firmware. Every time I tried to upload it, the usb would disconnect and timeout.
I was using an old usb printer cable and the solution was a new usb cable.
