  • Wing Hardware

Guys, trying to figure out the required hardware for the wing, specifically the bolts for the wing strut straps, flap and aileron mounts, and the pulleys. I was able to find little information on the plans, not saying its not there but Im not seeing it. I know the pulleys themselves are MS20220-2 and they use a 5/16 bolt. So, how do I determine what bolt(s) are required? I can figure length and dia, its the type of bolt im not sure about. Do I use a high shear type bolt for the pulleys, the wing strut steel?

Kinda lost here, what can you guys tell me?

Dave, all normal AN bolts. Nothing more exotic needed. Mark

Dave, use AN hardware everywhere as a general rule - review 43-13b as well. Possible exceptions may be NAS bolts for mounting upper end of oleo struts, never been a Bearhawk problem here but the Maule guys have found the need and it is very similar. Buy prop bolts when it's time for mounting the prop.

          Dave,

I am assembling my wings now....I just ended up taking an educated guess and bought a few sizes, longer and shorter for each item. Not very efficient but the hardware isn't too expensive in the grand scheme and I assume I'll need it sooner or later. There is enough variation in scratch building that I would be skeptical of any list that did exist. AN hardware is all that is specified in the plans.

I am using MS24566-4B pulleys in the wing.
