Cadmium Plated or Stainless Steak hardware

Galvanized cables are stronger and cheaper. Generally stainless screws provide a more troublesome corrosion situation than cadmium, so I've read.

You will want to use Cad Plated AN hardware and galvanized control cables.

I spent the day studying AC43.13 on the whole Stainless STEAL not STEAK question and I never saw anywhere in the document talk about Stainless hardware but yet you see them for sell with AN numbers in stainless steel. And had I not asked or read that section I would naturally assume that Stainless was the better choice.

KyBearhawk,
The thing to realize is that for "structural" applications (which is basically all of the uses in the bearhawks) we use the CAD plated steel. The reason is that the steel alloys used are stronger than the various stainless alloys. The CAD plating is applied for corrosion protection. Typically the places that you will choose to use stainless is in the non-structural areas such as the various screws that are used to hold cowlings, inspection plates, etc... where the anti-corrosion properties are most important (or the look!) There is not just one kind of stainless either. If you look at the stainless screw sections in aircraft spruce you will find some labeled structural. These have almost twice the modulus as the "other" stainless screws. They still aren't a substitute for the CAD plated but they are more resistant to stripping the head with a screwdriver.David Edgemon RV-9A N42DE flying RV-8 N48DE flying Patrol #232 N553DE in progress !
