  • O360 idle cut off

Running engine, leaning mixture control working fine...at 1200 rpm idle cut off kills engine. Around 1000 or less it sputters but just getting enough fuel to keep sputtering, quitting, to barely sputtering etc. Doesn't want to quite quit from lack of fuel...again, anything at or over 1200 rpm ,it kills it. Does anyone have an explanation for this? Concern?..mixture control lever is reaching both stops for certain. Marvel Schebler ma-4-5 carburetor .Thanks all. Gary

I wouldn't accept that, it might mean there is a problem in the carburetor. This is what the other end of the mixture control looks like (minus the little bit of red contamination) and I wonder if something is worn out or otherwise wrong with that part. Is this a new carb, or has it been overhauled or anything?

Thanks Jared..it's not a new carb..was supposedly gone over just before I got it which means nothing again, after doing some digging I believe it is a bent mixture control metering valve. Anyone have a pic of where the mix control metering valve does its business in carb bowl. Just wondering...going to pull carb off, bowl off. I expect I will find the spring on the mixture control metering valve bent. Replace this if bent supposedly looks after problem.
