  • Thrust Line Location on Firewall

Question for those who fabricated their own engine mount: Could you please confirm if the center point marked with red in the attached picture is the thrust line location on the firewall plane?

    Thanks
    Hari

Hari, the only place to measure the thrust line elevation is an extension of the vertical centerline measurement at Station B-P, page 16 of the plans - 18 1/2 inches. It passes through the firewall wherever it passes through. The only parallel (flat spot) of the fuselage to the centerline is the longeron between B and C. It’s important to get B -C correct because so many other measurements depend on this reference. The picture you have posted shows the dimensions to aid in making the firewall. I believe those marks to be centers of arcs to aid in drawing the curves of the firewall.

Using the B-C longeron as level is important when you build your engine mount. You can play around with the engine position to get the required down angle (1 degree on a Patrol)
