New QB 4 place builder here. Online plans says to ask for a copy of the floor board patterns. Does anyone have them and may I borrow them from you? Thanks, Lamar

Hello Lamar. I can't seem to think who you are. Did you buy a kit from Bearhawk Aircraft? If not - whose kit did you buy? Mark

Yep. Prior to taking delivery I asked this same question but was happy to see all the precut floorboards were included.

I purchased kit #34 from a Gentleman in Seward. It is a vintage 2004 kit. So, the floor boards come with the kit? I guess I need to review what I have. If I cannot find them, does anyone still have plans or can they be purchased? Thanks.

I checked my supplies, no floor boards. Guy I bought it from said that they were builder supplied due to your choice of metal or wood. Does anyone know where I might come up with these plans?
            Thanks

If that kit was Matt Jones's kit, be also aware it has the shorter 540 engine mount. Are you in Alaska?

All is correct. Anchorage. Question, are you in Alaska and might you have the floor board plans? Also, I am aware that the mount is for a 540, but was not aware there is a shorter and a longer 540 mount. Is that indeed the case?

I almost bought the mount from Matt because he was doing a Subaru conversion and didn't need it. There was the original length, one that was two inches shorter, then back to original. At that time Avipro made a small run of the shorter mount and that's what you have.

From 2007, Budd Davisson wrote: "Actually, the original mounts we supplied were made to Bob’s specs when he was concerned about the CG being too far forward with the 540 so he put out a note to everyone telling them to move them back 2”. Quite quickly CG was found not to be a problem, because just about everyone was building heavier-than-Bob airplanes (doesn’t everyone?) so a majority of the airplanes we’ve delivered have the original length mount."

The original (and current) mount adds two inches of valuable real estate between the engine and firewall.

I might have the patterns, but will have to look. My shop is quite messy these days!

I am planning on buying the 540 mount from a guy in NC...is there an easy measurement that can be made to distinguish a short mount from a long mount?
