Hello fellow Missoulian. That's my hometown! Do you know a Russ Read by chance?

The name sounds familiar but I can't put a face to it. I fly the Northstar Jet planes a lot right now and I was working for Neptune a few years ago.

The "it's not certified" point has been one made by Garmin for years, but at what point can we say that it is no longer true? Dynon is putting the Skyview into TC airplanes with STCs, right?

The Dynon EFIS that's being "certified" (via STC) for use on type-certified aircraft is NOT being certified as an IFR-GPS - only as an EFIS. The EFIS can be used when flying IFR, but you would still have to have a certified IFR navigation source to be IFR-legal.

Yes, that's right. Though I have to wonder if they have something in the works for fix that void.

Wow thanks everyone for all out your comments and pictures! It sounds like a lot of people like the Dynon products. I made a few paper cut outs of the Dynon stuff and it looks like they will fit like everyone has been saying.
I guess now I should start building!
