  • New Search Box powered by Google

    By popular demand, I have just changed the "Search" box in the upper right so that it no longer uses the internal vbulletin search engine. Now it uses Google.

    The advantage is that now you can use the more powerful Google syntax and return better results.

    The disadvantage is that the results will be displayed on a Google site. When you click on a result in that Google site, it will bring you back here for the content.

    I'm pretty sure that most of you will find the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, but in any case feel free to speak up if you feel strongly one way or the other.

    Thanks to all of you for making this an active, civil, and useful community!

    This is a game changer, Jared! The search results are now much more relevant! For those of us just now coming onto the scene, the search bar is the greatest feature of this forum. For me, I am very grateful for all of the builder contributions available to me from this site. Thank you!

      Thanks for all your work maintaining this forum Jared!

      When I built our 4-place, I knew nothing to begin with and desperately needed this kind of access to the community. Poor old Mark G had to bear the brunt of my questions instead!! He's a good man.

      This forum surpasses the Yahoo group in every way.

            Jared, I add my appreciation for your efforts to this thread. This thing is a gold mine.
            Question, what is the equivalent search text if I just go straight to Google? In the past, I would search "aileron pushrod site:bearhawkforums.com" to target results on the forum, is this a similar function?

              That's the ticket

              Although the site search box uses the syntax below, it's functionally the same thing (I put extra space in there so the forum software wouldn't truncate it):

              Code:
              [URL="https://www.google.com/search?q=aileron+pushrod&sitesearch=https%3A%2F%2Fbearhawkforums.com"]https://www.google.com/search? q=aileron+pushrod &sitesearch=https%3A%2F%2Fbearhawkforums.com[/URL]

                If you find that you'd rather use the old search engine instead of Google, you can still reach it here:
