  • Tail Wire Tension

Does anyone have knowledge of any procedure/values/numbers for tensioning the tail brace wires? I see 14 lbs pull with .5 inch deflection for Cubs but the 1/4” wires on the Bearhawks are much thicker. I have tensioned mine at .5” deflection with 10 lbs pull but they still could have a bit more. I don’t feel any vibration in flight but have a slight “stick shake”. Whether that’s prop induced, I’m not sure yet. Thanks.

Bob has stated what he recommends but I can’t find it. I’m pretty sure it is in an old news letter.
Scratch Built 4-place Bearhawk. Continental IO-360, 88" C203 McCauley prop.

I just went through 04’ to 09’ and can’t find anything either. I’ll check the tip site. Thanks

These instructions circulated a few years ago.
