  • Transport by truck

I’m planning to move my fuselage in a month or two, by truck to its hangar, an hour by road.
We can get the aircraft on and off the truck using tracks and the slope on my driveway. It looks like we’ll face it rearward to accommodate the length, with rudder , tailplane etc removed.

For others that have done this before, how did you secure the aircraft to prevent it moving ?

I rolled it onto a car trailer, secured it with strops around the landing gear, and towed it two hour to our hangar (Wellington to Palmerston North).
It was exposed to the elements and it was raining most of the way, so we taped plastic over the exposed parts. It was scheduled so it needed to go regardless of weather.
The wings followed on a second trailer, back in their crates.

I bought a couple of cases of beer for my neighbor and he used his tow truck to move my plane. The wings came on the second trip.
