Hey All...
Interesting story with a different outcome. I had made 4 variations of a blue on yellow paint scheme in 3-view for my BH. I sent it out to family and friends for an opinion as to which they liked the best. I had my favorite, but sometimes people see things that I may miss. I also sent it to the local EAA chapter president who is a friend of mine and he in turn sent it out to the entire chapter! It wasn't my intent at all, but it was out there in the wild and nothing that I could do. Variation 2 was the clear winner, and my favorite as well. Big vs small N-number is split 50/50.
I was contacted by one of our chapter members and asked if he could do a paper model of my BH. I really had no idea what he had in mind, but I was soon to find out. Apparently he has been doing paper models of all sorts of airplanes and rockets for years and is well-known in the paper modeling world. He created a true to scale model of my BH with a 24in wingspan, complete with scale 26in Goodyears, (even the T3 tailwheel suspension) in a kit that you can print out on card stock! He printed out two kits for me on 11x17 card stock and I put one together over the weekend while waiting for some Superflite stuff from Aircraft Spruce. I have to admit it was a challenge, more challenging than I had imagined but it was worth the trip.
He is now making a 36in version that is rubber-powered and will make it fly! The experience was interesting and it is really neat to have a three-view that I can hold in my hand. He does copyright his stuff, but he is more than willing to do the same for others that may want one. He will charge a fee, but I don't know what that would be. He didn't want anything from me for his work, but I gave him a gift card anyway. This is a 4-place, but he can create pretty much anything. His name is Mike Bauer and if you want his email address just message me and I'll forward it to you.
p.s. Buzz Lightyear volunteered to do the test flight...
