Our Bearhawk is finally back home after a three week trip as far west as Missouri. Today we were crossing the Black Mountains, 30 minutes from home, when the #1 EGT started steadily dropping. At first I was concerned, though the engine was running fine and all other indications were normal. By the time it got below 900 degrees or so I knew it must have been the just a probe problem. It got down to around 500 or so for a while, and then back up to normal again by the time we landed.

This is what a failing EGT probe looks like.

Ours sometimes does some crazy stuff too, like 2200F. It comes and goes once in a blue moon. Otherwise the probe works fine at all other times, 99.99% of the time.
Just one of those things.
A few times the radio has gotten confused and won't transmit, needs to be turned off and on again.

Just fyi, I picked up my A&P back in August. I obtained my 8610-2 from the FSDO to move to testing based mostly on experience gained over the years from building my experimentals including the Bearhawk. It is possible to do...
