Patrol Seaplane

Hello colleagues!
What do you think about possibility of building patrol in "seaplane" configuration? Has anybody any information on changes in fuselage tubing and how to build the farm with doors on both sides. I have my upper and bottom parts ready and I think it's time when it's not late to change something.

I purchased the QB fuselage from Mark with the dual-sided "seaplane" doors. Don't know that I'll ever have it on floats, just kind of liked the idea of being able to get out on either side.

Purchasing QB and shipping to Russia will be very expensive because of the currency. I just wondering if there is any plans for it or whatever.

Olm, float modifications for the Patrol are laid out on pg. 41 of Bob's manual. They involve only the side tubing at location E. I asked about the vertical stabilizer and Bob believes it will be of adequate size.

Thanks Ed! and where I can see the manual? I've seen a sheet of plan for 4 place with indicated tubing to be changed(sorry for bad language) but for patrol ... no.

Bob's manual is actually titled "The Bearhawk Patrol Book", and should have been included with your plans. It's loosely bound with that awful black plastic binding...

At last I found the information about tubing, thanks to Jim and Ed. And the door on the left side will be done as a reflection of the right door.

So where are the throttle, mixture and prop controls mount on the dual door Patrol? Seems like mounting a vernier throttle on the panel would be a reach and maybe at an odd angle. I could see the mixture mounted on the panel but an struggling with the design for mounting the rest of the controls. PBY like overhead throttle has been mentioned. I like the idea of two doors but I like my throttle quadrant readily at hand. Maybe it's just me but I always seem to have my hand on the throttle when I fly, an old habit.

I put doors on both sides of my LSA and did struggle with the throttle.

Basically used an aluminum tube(somewhere around 1/2 to 5/8 OD) riding in bushings to go from the rear seat forward under the door and out the front. Then I made a short lever that gripped the OD of the tube and passed up through a slot in the door sill for the front pilot.

Made a bushing with some set screws for the front of the tube to clamp the center of the bowden cable and made another to weld to the fuselage to grab the outer case.

So the rear seat pilot pushes/pulls on the end of the tube and the front seat pilot moves it via the lever coming up through the slot in the sill.

Can't get photos at the moment as everything is masked for painting. However, lots of clearance checking to make sure the rear end of the tube fits with sufficient travel without hitting the fabric and that there is enough room to also fit in the fuel line that runs in the same area. It also took some iterations to find the right tube diameter and wall thickness to be stiff enough for the front throttle(which is a lever offset from center line of the tube) to work under load without bending the tube slightly which caused it to bind in the bushings.

I'm thinking of making rudder on the instrument panel. In Husky prop pitch handle is done this way (in the picture). The only serious concern is not having opportunity to fly the plane from rare sit.
