  • Yet another rotisserie...

Since I have a little time to work on things before our BH 5 QB kit arrives, I made some stands. Did the typical HF engine stands, but cut the tops off, and picked up some U-joints on Amazon. Then a trip to the metal yard and got some 1" x 2" D tube for the upper portion. 3-d printed some bushings for the end of the inner section and the top of the HF tube so that it slides up and down with minimal slop. Then drilled some holes to make it all adjustable. And added dual locking screws to fix the angle where desired. Handles for the locking bolts are in the 3-d printer. The legs are very long right now, so I will cut them down to optimum length once the kit arrives and I have actual dimensions to work with. Not shown is a horizontal tube that will connect the two stands together at the base so they won't flop around as you rotate.

Looks good and simple. I highly recommend you have some sort of mechanism other than the pinch bolts to keep it from rotating.

I left the ends of the inner tube with the u-joint long, so I can add a lock mechanism to it if needed. The tube diameter is 2.5", so was thinking there might be enough torque to hold it, but a definitive locking mechanism would certainly not hurt.

Looks good. I have just started working on mine as well. I am debating the usefulness of being able to adjust the height of the stands, and may just make them at a fixed height. I have the same exact stand that I am going to use for the tail, but bought a bigger one for the front.

I thought about buying the one that has a the gearbox and hand crank, but decided I will make some other sort of locking mechanism. I like the idea of the brake and a c-clamp.
