  • Wing Former Height

I'm having some trouble laying out the wing formers on top of the cabin. I've come up with the height to set them at two different ways and got the same dimensions but it just doesn't look right. Can someone measure the distance from the top of the cabin to the top of the square tube wing former at the largest dimension? I like to look of the Stinson V77 but that's not what I want on my Bearhawk.

    Whee,
The combination of your photograph and your V77 comment makes me think you're forgetting about the center stringers (plans sheet 22, T2 tubing for original design with "Bearhawk hump" to clear trim wheel - as compared to typical skylight mod versions that are lower to match wing height). Also see sheet 16 and Avipro style pic at Ted Cumminghams site: http://www.foxflier.com/bearhawk/200...7/P1010018.jpg

Qualifier: I'm not close to starting my fuselage yet.

Mark, I am installing a skylight so I won't have the BH hump. I'll have a third former in the middle that is the same height as the end formers. I'm modeling my skylight after Steve's Aircraft Pacer skylight.

They should follow the profile and height of your wing root. Measure off wing attach points and follow that profile.

That's what I've done. Guess I'll find out in a couple years when I mount the wings if I did it right.
