  • Trim Drive Arm

Any reason, other than weight, that I can't use 5/16 .035 tubing for my trim drive instead of .028? .028 is almost twice as much per foot from A/S. Wicks doesn't carry it.

Weight on the tail is something generally avoided. But the 4 feet (more or less) vs .035 versus .028 would not add much weight. I guess the question is how much weight versus the cost savings. Unless the savings in $$$ is significant, I would go with the .028. Mark

      $31.00 vs $18.60, so about $12.00 difference.

I made mine from .035 . Just kick a little mud off the tailwheel, it'l never know the difference.

Up-date-- What I got was, it going to cost you 1.2 ounces. Just a little mud.

You'll have to bend it, and the thinner wall might be slightly easier to bend.

I remade mine with 5/16 .035 after the engineering notice. No problems with bending it.

Thanks. I found some .035 in ANC and I'll go with that.

One more thing. I would like a few more threads than on the small AN3 nut. Has anyone welded on a 10-32 coupling nut? Not the full length of course, but maybe twice the threads of an AN3 nut.
