    Is ms20257 piano hinges sufficient for cowl doors or are ms20001 hinge required. Thanks. Aircraft spruce piano hinge

    I used 257 hinges.
    Scratch Built 4-place Bearhawk. Continental IO-360, 88" C203 McCauley prop.

      257 for me as well. No issue after 100 hrs.

          Not sure but this may be a related topic of interest:

          This is a photo of a design flaw. Do not use 9 #3 squeeze rivits to hold you cowl doors on, they can fail. You need at least 20 #3's here!! 5 of the 9 sheared off

            I did see that. I have 20 rivets and will be installing a doubler beneath top hinge at doorskin

              More piano hinge questions: should the doubler cover only the fixed leaf of the hinge (the top) or both the fixed and articulating leafs?
              What width of hinge are people using? I see 1-3/4” and 2” at ACS. Thanks.
