  • Another First Flight

Dennis and N240BP took off today for first flight. Everything went very well including the landing. His impression of the landing gear was way better than anything he has experienced in the Pacer he owned and flew. From the ground the Vettermans exhaust sounded really good under the ECI OX-360 and W. W. constant speed prop and climb out seemed a bit steep to me, but according to him not the case. We are not sure on the correctness of the airspeed indicator yet, but it read 90 MPH. He thought the plane handled very well and was not as light on the controls as he thought it would be. Mostly I think we thought it would be too easy to over control, which was not the case. It was snowing at 3000 ft and thought it would be a good idea to insulate around the windows and the air vents. And I'm happy to report he got back on the ground with everything he left with!! Some adjustments to the prop control friction needs to be done and a couple of small oil leaks to be taken care of, but other than that all systems OK. Looking forward to keeping you updated on all pertinent numbers with more test flights soon. Hopefully if the WX cooperates tomorrow N241BP will be next!!!! Incidentally Mark told us that he thought 15 Patrols have flown so far, with ours being numbers 16 & 17. We just happen to have kit #'s 16 and 17. Donna P.S. Your getting this from me because he can't type worth a toot. PSS- I do have video of the take off, but not a clue how to post it. If I ever do i'll link it up.

Congratulations - I would love to see some photos of the successful day!!

The best way to share the video would be uploading it to your choice of site (Youtube / Vimeo / Facebook / etc) and then posting a link here.

It seems like there is a great magazine story about the double build here... if not for Beartracks, maybe we can pitch it to the EAA folks. Do you have anyone writing something like that yet?

Ben Sclair of General Aviation News has been waiting for them to fly to go down and write an article. Mark
